Strength Training Program on the Gold Coast
01The program
Resistance Work Under Clinical Supervision
Strength and mobility decline measurably with age, inactivity and illness, and rebuilding them is a clinical process when a medical condition is involved. Our strength training program on the Gold Coast is delivered at Nuevo Medical by exercise physiologists in a Technogym-equipped facility, prescribed from physical testing rather than a standard routine. This is supervised resistance and mobility work for people whose capacity has declined, not general gym training. Where an injury or surgery is the reason for the decline, our return to activity program is the more appropriate pathway. Call 0417 426 825 to enquire.
02What's addressed
What the Program Addresses
The program targets the specific components identified in your assessment.
- 01
Muscular strength
Resistance work prescribed for the muscle groups testing shows are affected. Loading progresses from measured capacity rather than an assumed level.
- 02
Mobility and range
Work addressing restricted joint range where testing identifies it. This is assessed per joint rather than generally.
- 03
Balance and stability
Exercises addressing balance where testing indicates it's relevant. This is a common focus where mobility has declined.
- 04
Functional capacity
Work directed at specific everyday movements that have become difficult. What these are is established at assessment rather than assumed.
03Testing
How Physical Capacity Is Tested and Retested
The program depends on measurement rather than impression, so the initial assessment involves a set of physical tests. Your exercise physiologist measures strength in relevant muscle groups, joint range of movement, balance and functional tasks appropriate to what's being addressed. Any precautions from your referring practitioner are reviewed and built into what's prescribed. The results give a documented starting point, which matters because progress in this area is gradual enough to be easy to miss without a comparison. The same tests are repeated at set intervals through the program, and the prescription is adjusted from what they show. Findings are reported back to your referring GP so the program remains connected to your broader care rather than running separately.
04Questions
FAQs
Clinically supervised training is prescribed by a qualified practitioner from physical testing, works within precautions set by a referring practitioner and is monitored and adjusted from repeated measurement. General gym training operates without that clinical framework.
Resistance training is widely used in clinical practice across age groups, with the prescription set individually from assessment. Whether it's appropriate in a particular case is a clinical decision.
Exercise physiologists use standardised physical tests appropriate to the muscle groups and functions being assessed. Repeating the same tests over time is what makes comparison possible.
