Pregnancy Exercise Program on the Gold Coast

01The program

Supervised Conditioning During Pregnancy

Exercise during pregnancy is generally supported clinically, but what's appropriate changes across the trimesters and varies with individual circumstances. Our pregnancy exercise program on the Gold Coast is delivered at Nuevo Medical by exercise physiologists working with clearance from your GP or maternity care provider, in our supervised Bundall facility. The prescription is reviewed as pregnancy progresses rather than set once at the beginning. Your GP handles the clinical side through pregnancy care, and the program works within whatever they've specified. Clearance is required before starting. Call 0417 426 825 to enquire.

02How it adapts

How the Program Adapts Across Pregnancy

The prescription changes as pregnancy progresses rather than remaining fixed.

  • 01

    Clearance and assessment

Confirmation from your GP or maternity provider that exercise is appropriate, plus a physical assessment. Nothing begins before both are complete.

  • 02

    Trimester adjustment

The prescription is reviewed and adjusted as pregnancy progresses. Certain positions and movements become unsuitable at different stages.

  • 03

    Supervision

Sessions are conducted with practitioners present rather than followed independently. Anything you report during a session is recorded and acted on.

  • 04

    Ongoing clearance

Any change in your pregnancy care is communicated to the program. Your maternity provider's instructions take precedence throughout.

03Clearance

What Clearance From Your Maternity Provider Covers

Before an assessment can proceed, your practitioner needs written clearance from your GP or maternity care provider confirming that supervised exercise is appropriate and setting out any restrictions. That clearance is the document the entire prescription is built from. At assessment, your exercise physiologist reviews it alongside a history covering your stage of pregnancy, previous pregnancies, current symptoms, existing conditions and previous activity levels. Bringing your antenatal record makes that history considerably more accurate. Physical testing is conducted within the stated limits. Your practitioner then explains the proposed structure and how it will be reviewed as pregnancy progresses. If your maternity provider changes their advice at any point, the program is adjusted to match.
