Preventative Care Program on the Gold Coast

01The program

Review on a Schedule Rather Than on Request

Preventative care tends to fail through drift rather than disagreement. Everyone agrees the review should happen, and then a year passes. Our preventative care program on the Gold Coast is Nuevo Medical's structure for that problem: a documented schedule of review, measurement and reassessment, with intervals set in advance rather than arranged each time. It runs from our Bundall centre with onsite pathology, and it works alongside the health checks your GP conducts rather than replacing them. What's included is set individually. Call 0417 426 825 to enquire.

02The structure

How the Program Is Structured

The program is built around a schedule rather than a set of sessions.

  • 01

    Documented baseline

History, measurements, pathology and risk factors recorded at entry. Everything subsequent is compared against this rather than against general ranges.

  • 02

    Scheduled review points

Dates set in advance for each reassessment. Setting them at the outset is the mechanism that stops the schedule lapsing.

  • 03

    Repeat measurement

The same measurements taken at each review point. Consistency is what makes the comparison meaningful over years.

  • 04

    Plan adjustment

Reassessment at each point of what remains relevant. Factors change over time, and the schedule is revised rather than continued unchanged.

03Each review

What Your GP Reviews at Each Scheduled Point

Each review is a structured consultation rather than a general check-in. Your GP works through your recorded baseline, compares current measurements against previous ones, reviews recent pathology and reassesses which risk factors are relevant now. They'll review your medication list, ask about any new symptoms or conditions diagnosed elsewhere, and confirm which screening you remain eligible for. Bringing results from any tests arranged outside the practice keeps the record complete, which matters more in a long-running program than a short one. At the end of each review, your GP sets the next interval and documents what is due then. Where findings indicate a condition has developed, the arrangement moves to clinical management instead.

FAQs

It generally involves a documented baseline, scheduled review points and repeated measurement over an extended period, with the plan reassessed at each review. The content is set individually based on age, history and risk factors.

Scheduling reviews at the outset is what prevents them from lapsing, since preventative care rarely produces symptoms that prompt an appointment. The interval is reset at each review rather than fixed permanently.

A health check assesses status at a single point, while a preventative program establishes a baseline and tracks change across repeated review points over years. The comparison over time is the substantive difference.
